20 years ago, the first team from Central Oregon visited Kapchorwa, Uganda and people from Sisters Community Church were moved to develop a relationship with this mountain community in Eastern Uganda. Sisters Community Church quickly realized the best way to partner with people in Kapchorwa was by investing in the lives of children. Children were initially sponsored through an organization called African Renewal Ministries, but then 15 years ago, Sisters Community Church decided to start their own child sponsorship program in order to have deeper and more personal impact. The heart of these decisions has always been to bring up the next generation of people who can help transform Kapchorwa and their country.

 

10 years ago, in 2014, Hope Africa International gained independent 501c3 non-profit status from the IRS, allowing us to build relationships with other organizations and churches. We partnered with Powell Butte Christian Church and Kingdomwork Ministries International to start a new sponsorship program serving two villages in the valley below Kapchorwa, Kabacheriya and Kaplobotwo (K&K).

 

In the past decade alone, 729 new children were sponsored and 260 students graduated. We are beyond grateful for the lasting impact of sponsorship on the lives of all these children.

 

This year, we will have two events to celebrate all God has done over the past 20 years. On April 18th, we are celebrating with an all day event at Suttle Tea, where the proceeds will benefit Hope Africa. If you would like to help us reach our fundraising goal, you are welcome to donate here. 

Funds raised will benefit the children in the following ways:

1. Mattresses for Secondary Students to board at school

2. Two camps for Secondary Students

3. Extra medical care for all sponsored students (surgery, hospitalizations)

4. Computer Training for older students during school holidays

5. Supplemental nutrion for HIV positive students
