2024 is the ten year anniversary since the sponsorship program was started at K&K Schools.
Ten years ago, Powell Butte Christian Church and Kingdomwork Ministries International asked Hope Africa International to start a sponsorship program to support the new school they were building. This school educates over 500 children of two extremely impoverished villages called Kaplobotwo and Kabachirya (K&K). This fulfilled a long-awaited dream of Mike and Phylis Chemonges who desired to raise up the next generation from their community.
Today, we sponsor children at two thriving schools at K&K, Amazing Grace Primary School and Amazing Grace Secondary School. We are witnessing some of the first students from Kabachirya and Kaplobotwo graduate from High School and move on to university. Some of these students hope to return to K&K to invest back into their villages.
Our end of the year goal to help us meet the budget for K&K schools is to raise $5000. Since we only have 210 students sponsored out of the 500 students at K&K we need funds to bridge the gap between sponsorship donations and the school budget. These funds will help us meet some of the following needs:
1. $500 for health screening
2. $1200 for School Supplies
3. $500 for new school desks
4. $275 to maintain the Solar Power system
5. $550 for mosquito nets for boarding students to prevent Malaria
6. $625 for vocational training for students
7. $550 for weekend study sessions for Secondary 4 students for government exam prep
8. $600 for textbooks
9. $200 for Dormitory beds for boarding students
