Hope Africa International serves Uganda's most vulnerable children through providing school fees, uniforms, shoes, medical care and biblical discipleship. We work in two communities in rural, Eastern Uganda. Kapchorwa, our first program, is located on Mt. Elgon at 7400 feet in elevation. Children sponsored in our Kapchorwa program attend one of our partner schools proven to provide a quality education. K&K Schools is our 2nd program located in the valley below Kapchorwa. K&K is named for two extremely impoverished villages called Kaplobotwo and Kabachirya, where Powell Butte Community Church and Kingdomwork Ministries International built two schools, Amazing Grace Primary and Secondary Schools.
Whenever Hope Africa International invites people to serve on a short term trip, we encourage all team members to serve with humility, honoring God in all they do. Our heart is to encourage, respect and come alongside Ugandan Staff, Pastors, Teachers and children in the faithful work they are already doing. Each trip varies based on the skills team members have to offer and the current needs of the program.
In May of 2026, we are taking a team of 6 people, including the Executive Director, Katie Keranen. Some of these team members have resources to support their own travel, while others may need some extra assistance with travel expenses such as airfare, insurance and lodging.
Here are some of the activities we will participate in while we are in Uganda:
